I’m in a crisis right now.

I really need help. What shall I do?

When you feel desperate it is important to connect with someone who you can trust.

Reaching out can be hard but it will help in a time of crisis. Telephone or meet up with a friend, or family member/loved one. It may not be necessary to talk about your difficulties, instead just being in contact with someone who knows you, and cares, can help you feel safe.

If this isn't something you can do, or it is the middle of the night, please see below for some other suggestions to help you stay safe.

If you are in crisis in the UK, there are a number of resources and helplines available to help you. Here are a few suggestions:

NHS 111 OPTION 2

If you are in need of urgent mental health support, or you are not sure where to turn to get advice and guidance on your mental health, call 111 and press 2. Mental health support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

SAMARITANS

Samaritans is a charity that provides 24/7 emotional support for anyone in distress. You can call them for free on 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org for a reply within 24 hours.

SHOUT

Shout is the UK's first 24/7 text service for anyone in crisis. Text SHOUT to 85258 to get support from a trained volunteer.

YOUR GP

If you're already registered with a GP, you can call them and ask for an emergency appointment. Many GPs are now offering remote appointments, so you may not need to go into the surgery.
